Proper Care & Maintenance Instructions
Proper Storage
Store your packraft in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sharp objects. UV exposure can degrade the material over time, and punctures can occur if stored improperly. Ideally, hang it or lay it flat rather than folding to avoid creases.
Regular Cleaning
After each use, especially in saltwater or muddy environments, rinse the packraft with fresh, clean water. Use a soft sponge and mild soap for more thorough cleaning. Ensure it's completely dry before storage to prevent mold and mildew.
Inflation Techniques
Inflate your packraft to the manufacturer-recommended pressure using the inflation bag, hand pump, or Giga Pump (highly recommended, sold separately) to avoid over-inflation, which can stress seams and materials. Regularly check for air leaks and ensure the valves are clean and functioning properly.
Material Care
Avoid dragging the packraft on rough surfaces to prevent abrasions and punctures. When not in use, especially for extended periods, protect your packraft from prolonged UV exposure. If storing outside is unavoidable, use a UV-protective cover or treatment specified for marine-grade materials.
Periodic Deep Cleaning
Periodically, give your packraft a deep clean by inflating it fully and using a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Pay special attention to hard-to-reach areas where dirt and sand can accumulate.
Safety Gear Maintenance
Along with the packraft, maintain your safety gear. Regularly inspect your PFD, helmet, and paddles for damage or wear. Ensure your repair kit is always complete and materials are within their use-by dates.
